5 Life Lessons From The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty

The film is based on a short story by the same name that was first published in The Saturday Evening Post in 1939 and has been a best-selling book, including its sequel, The Seventh Tower, in 1958.

The movie describes a shy guy who works at a photo analyzing magazine Life.

He is very good at his job, but spends most of his time daydreaming in meetings, and has various ‘episodes’ of imagining things that are more exciting than actually happen in his work.

In the midst of a stormy summer, Walter is in a desperate need to find a photograph for the last issue of Life magazine. He goes on an adventure and meets a photographer named Sean O’Connell who has found all the missing pictures.

5 Life Lessons from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Walter really takes in the film. This is a good film, to watch with your friends, you can talk about, discuss and share your thoughts with each other.

The really does say a lot about our lives and we are a lot closer to so many amazing things than we seemed to think.

Walter’s first lesson: When you have something that you really want, you can accomplish anything.

I have a lot of interests, but I’m not sure how to categorize them.

1. We Are Only Hours Away from Beauty

Walter Mitty had never encountered anything crazier than when he was searching for Sean O’Connell, the photographer of the missing photo. He was lucky the person from the police department knew about his friend, and they were able to connect him to the missing picture.

The things in life that are most important to you are the things you are willing to pay for, sometimes at the cost of other things that might not be such a bad deal.

In the story, he didn’t have a passport or travel documents. It was his job to travel to these places. Thats why it was difficult for him.

We are in a completely different state, to be honest.

Yeah, I think it sounds kind of crazy, but I think it could be pretty cool in the long run.

It’s like you are finally taking your first sip of water after a long time of thirst. It’s kind of like the moment you realize you were missing out on the world for such a long time.

Sure, there is a cost involved, but I think you should let go of all expectations and just go with the flow. There can be beauty in the unknown, and a certain freedom in living as a nomad.

2. Courage is the Biggest Step to Happiness

Every action Walter takes has the possibility to change him but he is too afraid to take action. It is because he doesn’t want to change the image he thinks that he will be judged.

He’s really scared to move on to the next stage of his life because of the fear of rejection from the girl he likes.

In the actual story, he actually takes the first step towards adventure when he goes and gets a gun from his uncle.

I think this moment of his hesitation actually serves a purpose and is used to emphasize the fact that he does this kind of thing all the time. It’s a bit like a rite of passage that makes a point about the way he gets his friends and himself out of trouble.

When that happens, we are at risk of losing the data.

Having the courage to live out your dreams is one of the things that you need to do. Don’t be afraid to leave old lives behind and go for something new.

3. Stop Dreaming, Start Doing

The major theme of the film is that Walter Mitty is shy and has daydreams. He also tends to zone out for short periods at a time. He is a self-centered and narcissistic person.

So all that means is that whatever it is you are doing you should keep it simple. You aren’t going to build an empire from your dreams, so why worry about what will happen if you fail, if you succeed then you will move on to the next thing.

Dreams can help motivate you to do things. I once dreamed of becoming a professional athlete, and this motivated me to become a professional athlete.

4. Time is Easily Wasted

While Walter spends his life daydreaming about his imaginary life, he has a fairly average life. He doesn’t have any goals or passions that he is truly passionate about, he just floats along most of the time, hoping the next adventure will come and make his life easier.

He should have embarked on the path of enlightenment years ago, rather than let the sands of time slip away from him and continue to work the average and unexciting life.

5. Let Yourself Go A Little

An important skill we can learn from Mitty’s story is to just let go of our natural impulses and emotions, to do things that we wouldn’t normally do.

Whenever you feel tempted to over-think something or analyze why something happened, try to let it go.

Summary

This movie is very inspirational because Walter Mitty goes through a lot of different changes and learns different things about himself and the world.
