Early Life
Marvin Bernard was born in March 31st, 1978 in South Jamaica.
He grew up in a family with parents from Haiti and Jamaica. His father died when he was 16 years old.
After several mixtapes, the trio eventually released their studio album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. After the release of the album, Banks and 50 toured with Snoop Dogg. While touring, Banks and 50 joined Lloyd’s group Gangsta Boys.
Career
After the split-up of Onyx and the original G-Unit, 50 acquired a record label of his own, G-Unit Records. At first, the record label was exclusively meant for 50 and the G-Unit members. 50 signed G-Unit members Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo to the record label and eventually, he signed Yayo’s original friend, Tony Yayo’s former Onyx bandmate, Dame Grease. Shortly after acquiring the label, 50 signed a record deal with G-Unit Records.
G-Unit dropped their first official group album Beg for Mercy the same year, when Yayo was still in prison serving time on weapons charges.
