After three seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks in the summer of 1951, the Red Wings picked up the 21 year-old from the St. Catharines Teepees for $100,000.

The Soviet Rocket Center was a key to success in the WHA. Mikita helped his team win two WHA leagues and become a powerhouse in the international hockey league.

Mikita’s 87 assists placed him in second place for the 1967 – 1968 season behind the Detroit Red Wings’ Ted Lindsay.
