After spending two seasons in Indiana, Aldridge was traded to Portland in a three-team deal which sent Brandon Roy and Martell Webster to the Suns and the Trail Blazers sent Marcus Banks to the Clippers.

With a career-best eight points on 50 percent shooting from the field, Aldridge was named the Western Conference Player of the Week.

Aldridge signed a four-year $80 million contract with the Spurs, the third largest contract in NBA history. Upon being acquired by the Spurs, Aldridge was granted the number 12 jersey despite retiring for Bruce Bowen.
