The Mars Bar company was set up by John Mars and his sister Jacqueline, who wanted to sell the Mars Bar brand overseas. They first made a deal with the Swedish company Bajas, under which the company would get a 20% of the Mars bar production for a fixed rental fee. The company would also get the rights to the Bar’s manufacture in Europe and Asia. John Mars was made Chairman and CEO of the Bajas, while his sister Jacqueline remained the company’s executive director. The company had great successes and, eventually, a controlling stake in the Mars Bar.
Early Life
This interview with the great-grandson of the founder of Mars Incorporated, came at the request of the Mars Chocolate Company, and they asked me to spend a day getting to know John, and to interview him for an upcoming book, called “Becoming Mars” by Jennifer Hochschild. The process started a few weeks ago, and this is the outcome.
Mars began his acting career in 1963 on Broadway as a replacement in a production of The Skin of Our Teeth. After that, he appeared in various productions on Broadway, in regional theater, and on television. He also appeared in film and on television.

Your job is to listen to other people’s ideas and be careful about acting on your own. Don’t be like them, because they are not trustworthy and you should not trust them. Gaining someone’s trust takes lots of time and hard work. Give them the credit and tell them how you are going to use that information.
2. Don’t Step In With Solutions Too Quickly
No one learns anything if you keep doing what you already know how to do, and others don’t let you try anything. Anyway, mistakes are valuable.
3. Be Authentic
Be authentic, passionate, and emotional in expressing your opinions. Show the other people why you have your beliefs and stick to it. Share your vision for your life and live your values.
