Ebron was the first tight end to be drafted by the Detroit Lions since Dan Miller was selected in the second round of the 1974 NFL Draft. He became the highest drafted tight end in Detroit Lions history by the seventh round.

In 2018, the Indianapolis Colts signed Ebron to a one-year, $8 million contract with a $7 million signing bonus.

Against Houston, Ebron continued his solid performance against the Texans. In the fourth quarter, he caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Tannehill. He was unable to catch the game-winning touchdown catch against New Orleans, however, as he was covering for a short completion to Kenny Stills (who is listed as a wide receiver), who was injured and unable to return.
