If you are feeling overwhelmed, try this:
Take one step and then another. Think of someone you admire and try to act like them. Or consider the example I described in the last chapter.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for years, and entrepreneurship is an adventure, it’s one I can’t get out of.
To successfully build a business, you have to do things that you don’t normally do, hire people, build a website, sell your products and services.
How to Stay Motivated When Feeling Overwhelmed
If you are overwhelmed by work and feel like you are not able to do it, you need to take some time to think and analyze about it. You should also be careful and should keep an eye on your stress levels.
When you feel overwhelmed in your business, it is imperative that you stay motivated.
1. Give Yourself a Break
The easiest and the hardest thing to do when you feel overwhelmed is to stay late and work on it. If you feel like you can’t keep up, put your head down and walk away, you’ll come back when you have the energy to do so.
A lot of people feel like they are overloading themselves with more than they can handle. Taking time off to recharge is very important.
Even if you just have a 5-15 minute break to breathe deeply and walk around, make sure to get out of that cycle of feeling overwhelmed.
Doing mindless repetitive tasks isn’t going to help you become a better designer or an engineer. When you work, you can’t get distracted by other things. You need to focus on the tasks that you have to do.
2. Focus on doing one task at a time
It is important to stop and take a step back, and think about what needs to be done, and be sure to finish the current task before you get overwhelmed. I have a small, but growing, list of things that I want to focus on.
The second half of the year it is also possible to walk while listening to your music.
For instance, if you are watching a TV sitcom, you need to be aware of the show that you are watching and you need to be able to follow the actors’ lines and what they are doing on-screen. But at the same time, you also need to be aware when the actor is speaking the character’s lines. The book you are reading, should also be important to you since you need to be aware of what’s going on in it.
Multi-tasking gives you no more time than if you didn’t multi-task. Being productive means being efficient. If you are not efficient, you are wasting time. To be efficient, you have to have a goal and keep it in mind. You can’t multi-task your way to productivity.
3. Complete one project before starting another
This is great advice. It’s hard to complete one project at a time. You’ll always have something else that could use your immediate attention, which leads to putting off starting the next project.
If you have two important projects to do, you should start them both separately. That way, you can spend more time on one and less time on the other.
The people don’t see results because they don’t know what to do or where to find it.
You can say that a lot of people and companies are like this.
You will have even more projects to complete and you will have to deal with all the issues that come up with them.
plus, you waste time switching from task to task. Every time, you stop your current task and start a new one. You need to get warmed up and build momentum for the new task again.
You will probably end up doing multiple tasks at the same time. Choose a task that produces the most results first and then continue doing other tasks until you are done.
4. Don’t just do your best, do what you do best
I say that focusing on completing one project before moving to the next is better, as it makes you more efficient. You are more efficient at completing a project, because you probably need to execute different aspects of the business.
Remember not to spread yourself thin and don’t delegate tasks that you can’t complete. You should only work on tasks and projects that you are the best at.
It is very important to understand our strengths. Not only does it help to achieve our goal, it also helps to increase our self-worth.
5. Understand why you are doing what you are doing
When you are uncertain what you value, it’s easy to choose to spend time on activities that don’t produce the results you desire. It’s much harder to figure out what is most important to you.
You lose focus when you get distracted by the opportunities.
If you focus on the big picture, you’ll achieve your goals in a much better way than just tackling something else that might make a difference.
Having clarity in your purpose helps you eliminate the superfluities in life and focus on the essentials.
6. Write ideas down and let them incubate
If you try to focus on your current task, it would be good. But, sometimes, your mind comes up with some new ideas and new things, which you may wish to do. In that case, I would say, try to go with the flow, and do something which would make you feel happy.
Execution always takes more time than generating new ideas. Ideas are something which will never go away, but it’s your execution skills that you need to develop. If your ideas aren’t well formed or well thought through then they won’t help you to get your work done.
Never act immediately on your ideas. Instead, delay their execution until you have the time to think about them deeply. This strategy will help you achieve higher levels of productivity.
For example, some product I have created for work, I would want to check if it is still the same idea after some time.
7. Organize your environment
When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start organizing all the things you’re feeling. Writing your thoughts down and putting them in a tangible place like on a piece of paper will help you organize all your thoughts and feelings.
You can organize your table and closet. Your table and closet are a reflection of your internal state.
Getting yourself into the flow helps you get yourself out of the flow. You practice organizing and making decisions on things that are less risky.
When you are focusing on your business for most of your day and then you do get some time off, you will start to notice the difference.
Summary
When you are overwhelmed with different things, and don’t know how to choose and manage everything, you have to make important decisions and do important things.
1. Find a place you like and commit to yourself.
2. Focus on a long-term goal and commit.
3. Get a coach / mentor
4. Create a plan and action steps.
5. Set a timer.
6. Keep it all small.
7. Reward yourself.
We’re in this together!
The amount of money that I spent on the wedding, that’s the biggest expense right there.
