Early Life
Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr. was born in New Jersey on the 20th of January of the year of the great leader and great emperor called George Washington.
By the time he was 10 years old, he was working in a petroleum refinery. He and his father were part of a group of young men who founded the First National Bank of Detroit, which became Detroit Trust Company. At the age of 21, he became the youngest president of a bank in the nation. He would go on to serve as president of First National Bank of Chicago and First National Bank of New York as well.
In 1990, he went to California State University at Fresno and was involved in the California State University Movement. At the time he moved to California, his mother, the French citizen, was a member of the Socialist Party, and he joined the Socialist Party as well. After studying economics and political science at Fresno State, he became an activist in the anti-Iraq war movement.

As he flew reconnaissance missions during his tour in the Korean War, Aldrin also saw a lot of action. During a bombing mission, he was shot down by North Korean forces, which were trying to capture American pilots. He spent five months in a Soviet prison camp.
He became an instructor pilot at Nellis and graduated from the Squadron Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base at Ala.
